Maersk to Spend $2 Bln to Meet 2020 Sulphur Cap
Maersk Line said it will introduce a new Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) surcharge designed to recover costs of compliance with the global 0.5 percent sulphur cap set to enter into force on January 1, 2020. The Danish container carrier said it expects its extra fuel costs could exceed $2 billion.The BAF surcharge will be introduced on January 1, 2019, replacing Maersk Line's current Standard Bunker Adjustment Factor (SBF) surcharge.

MJP to Supply Waterjets for New US Army Landing Craft
Shipbuilder Vigor has selected Marine Jet Power (MJP) as the propulsion provider for the U.S. Army’s new Maneuver Support Vessel (Light), MSV(L) vessels.Vigor was awarded the 10-year, $979,390,000 MSV(L) contract in 2017 to construct a new generation of landing craft to replace the existing LCM-8 Mike boats.The new vessels will feature triple drive MJP 750 DRB waterjets, constructed from duplex stainless steel and offering the latest advancements in MJP’s proprietary mixed flow technology.

Eagle Bulk Orders up to 37 Scrubbers

Third LNG-powered Ship Ordered for AIDA Cruises
The number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered ships on order for AIDA Cruises has risen to three following the latest shipbuilding contract announced today by the German cruise line’s parent company Carnival Corporation & plc. Carnival said it signed a shipbuilding contract with German shipbuilder Meyer Werft GmbH to build another new 180,000-ton ship that will be fully powered at sea and in port by LNG. The vessel will be built at Meyer Werft’s Papenburg shipyard for delivery in 2023.

Ponant Orders Electric/LNG Icebreaker Cruise Ship
French cruise line Ponant has ordered the world's first hybrid electric cruise icebreaker with liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion, due to take passengers to extremely remote polar locales from 2021. Viking Line Inks Shipbuilding Deal with Xiamen
Finland based Viking Line said it has signed a conditional contract with Chinese shipyard Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co. for the construction of a new passenger cruise ship for delivery in 2020. A final agreement is subject to the approval of the board of directors of both parties, as well as financial arrangements entered. The total contract amount is about €194 million and includes an option on another vessel.

Veotec Supplies Water Removal Vanes to Vigor
Air intake systems designer and manufacturer Veotec said it has supplied air inlet vanes (vertical louvers) and CP2 filters to U.S. shipbuilder Vigor for two pilot boats delivered to the Port of Duqm Company SAOC, Sultanate of Oman. Veotec's scope of supply for each pilot vessel included two SE2 two stage (louver and coalescer) units for engine room combustion and ventilation air supply, and one SE2 two stage (louver and coalescer) unit for the A/C make up air inlet.

LNG Icebreaker Polaris Bunkers in Pori

Propulsion specialist REINTJES said it has opened a new branch office in the south of England to service markets in the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland. Opening of the REINTJES Britain & Ireland branch office follows on the cessation of trading by the former distributor European Marine and Machinery Agency in the middle of the year 2016.
