McTays, the shipbuilding subsidiary of HS Ocean Holdings (HSOH), has signed an agreement to distribute Doosan Marine Diesel Engines in the U.K., Nigeria, Gabon and Congo.

McTays will supply both mechanical engines and next generation electronically controlled engines which comply with European emission criteria. Potential customers include the fishing fleets operating off the U.K. coast, as well as tugs, crew transfer vessels, passenger ferries and offshore supply and support vessels.

Merseyside-based McTays has experience in the construction of complex vessels, with a six-acre site including a fully equipped build hall and engineering workshop opening directly onto a newly upgraded slipway capable of accommodating vessels up to 2,000 metric tons.

The most recent vessel built by McTays, the Multi-Role Vessel (MRV) Vital for Carmet Tugs, was fitted with a Doosan marine diesel engine.

The partnership will be officially launched at Seawork 2014, the International Commercial Marine Exhibition and Forum being held in Southampton on June 10-12.
