Kirkby Lindsey to be Exico’s ATEX Partner
Exico Electric Motors has appointed Kirkby Lindsey as its service partner for ATEX motors. As such it will undertake all modifications, servicing, repairs and warranty assessments for Exico’s explosion-proof motors.
ATEX is the name commonly given to the European Directives for controlling explosive atmospheres, the name deriving from the French term atmosphères explosibles. They identify six zones, three each where explosive gases or dusts are likely to occur occasionally, frequently or constantly. They also provide a framework for the design of equipment, including motors, which can be used in such areas.
Exico supplies motors, including ATEX certified units, and fully integrated drive packages to a wide range of industries in the U.K. Its motors are made in one of the most modern manufacturing facilities in the Czech Republic and Exico can customize them in-house at its headquarters in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
Speaking from Wellingborough, Sales Director Lucie Hodkova said, “We are a full function motor company, so as much a service company as a supplier. In fact, we aim to define the service standards by which other motor companies are measured. To achieve and maintain such standards, we recognize that we need the support of experts in certain fields, including explosion proof motors.”
Based on Humberside, Kirkby Lindsey Electrical Engineering performs repair, sales and service of electric motors and related equipment. It excels in the repair, rewind, refurbishment and overhaul of electric motors, with a team of specialist staff who are available 24 hours a day, seven days of the week. It has large, well equipped workshops, capable of handling machinery up to 10 tonnes in weight. The company is audited by the SGS Baseefa for repair hazardous area electrical motors according to the IEC 60079-19:2010 standard and holds the IEC, IECEx and ATEX certification.
Kirkby Lindsey can also undertake on-site work plus motor and bearing monitoring, testing and analysis. It operates a BSI Registered Quality Management System to the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2008, BS EN ISO 14001:2004 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 and its engineers hold National Water Hygiene cards.
