The Rolls-Royce brand MTU is at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, showcasing its propulsion and system solutions for mega yachts. The range includes both standardised drive packages and customised system solutions, such as the E Drive system incorporating diesel engines and electric motors, transmission, electronics and energy storage system.

The MTU portfolio combines the benefits of diesel-powered drives with those of purely electrically powered alternative drive systems. (The MTU brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems within the Marine and Industrial Power Systems division of Rolls-Royce).

“As a system partner of long standing to prestigious shipyards, we have the expertise required to combine all the drive components into a perfectly dovetailed, optimally functioning system,” explained Dr. Michael Haidinger, Chief Sales Officer at Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

MTU offers complete system integration for its E Drive solutions. For yacht owners, this means greater cost-effectiveness and comfort as a result of lower fuel consumption, in addition to reduced noise and vibration levels. The drive systems, which are customised by MTU to meet the client’s specific needs, are based on the powerful, low-emission Series 2000, 4000, 1163 and 8000 diesel engines, with power ratings to 10,000 kW.

In addition to propulsion and system solutions, visitors interested in learning more about after-sales services will also be able to obtain information on the MTU ValueCare services available. These are tailored to comply with the client’s most stringent requirements and are an integral part of the Premium Yacht Service package, which also includes Extended Propulsion Coverage (EPC), annual inspections and professional hands-on training programs.

Other services offered include customised maintenance contracts, in addition to a fast and reliable supply of genuine high-quality MTU spare parts and consumables.

The Monaco Yacht Show runs from 24 to 27, September 2014.
