Height Drop Record by Norsafe Lifeboat
Norsafe conducts the highest free-fall drop ever, 61.53 meters (201.9 ft) featuring a so-called free-fall lifeboat. The test came in the wake of another successful drop from a height of 52 metres earlier the same week. Norsafe's groundbreaking new lifeboat, the GES50 MKIII is thus certified for heights up to 47 metres. "Norsafe's purpose is not to set records in free-fall drops of lifesaving equipment," says Norsafe AS CEO Geir Skaala. "The essence of our products, however, is to save lives. Quality and trust is the foundation of our existence.

Norsafe received orders worth NOK 400-million (US$ 45.3-million) over the course of October 2012, & backlog at record height. "It is Norsafe’s newly developed GES50 MKIII freefall lifeboat which accounts for the bulk of these orders," says CEO Geir Skaala, adding that the international demand for this product is fantastic. GES50 MKIII (Gravity Escape System) is certified according to the DNV-OS-E406, the world's strictest requirements for freefall lifesaving systems, applicable on the Norwegian continental shelf from 2015.
