Crowley Orders New ATB for Enhanced AK Service

Crowley Fuels has signed construction contracts to build a 55,000-barrel, articulated tug-barge (ATB) that is specifically designed to serve the Western Alaska market with delivery of clean fuel products.The 410-foot ATB will have enhanced performance features for the demanding river and sea conditions of Western Alaska, an area that depends on safe and reliable marine delivery services during the short open-water season. An ATB consists of a tugboat and barge that are connected from the bow of the tug to a notch in the stern of the barge by a hinged connection system…

Voith Delivers First U.S.-Built VSP Units

The first two American-made Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP) units have been delivered and installed in the Rodanthe ferry.Rodanthe is a ferry to be operated by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and used in its service to the Outer Banks, a string of barrier islands between North Carolina and the Atlantic Ocean.“With the new VSP units installed, the Rodanthe will offer years of smooth, efficient service to the islands. By linking steering and propulsion together, the VSP allows for fast response and precision movement in even the roughest of waters.

USCGC Nathan Bruckenthal Delivered

The U.S. Coast Guard took delivery on March 29, 2018 of the USCGC Nathan Bruckenthal, built by Bollinger Shipyards and delivered in Key West, Florida. The 154 ft. patrol craft USCGC Nathan Bruckenthal is the 28th vessel in the Coast Guard's Sentinel-class FRC program. To build the FRC, Bollinger used a proven, in-service parent craft design based on the Damen Stan Patrol Boat 4708. It has a flank speed of 28 knots, state-of-the-art command, control, communications and computer technology, and a stern launch system for the vessel’s 26 foot cutter boat.

USCG Awards Polar Icebreaker Contracts

The U.S. Coast Guard awarded five firm fixed-price contracts for heavy polar icebreaker design studies and analysis Wednesday. The contracts were awarded to the following recipients: Bollinger Shipyards, LLC, Lockport, Louisiana; Fincantieri Marine Group, LLC, Washington, District of Columbia; General Dynamics/National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, San Diego, California; Huntington Ingalls, Inc., Pascagoula, Mississippi; and VT Halter Marine, Inc., Pascagoula, Mississippi. The combined total value of the awards is approximately $20 million.

Reliable auxiliary power is as important to a modern off shore vessel as are the main propulsion engines. Ample and reliable electrical power is essential to the basic support systems from the galley appliances to the wheelhouse navigational devices. The Ms. Charlotte, recently delivered to Edison Chouest by Bollinger Shipyards of Lockport, Louisiana, is a powerful demonstration of this. Designated a 300 Class Deep Water Support Vessel, the ship has a pair of GE 3,125 hp 8L250 main propulsion engines.

Bollinger Delivers Eighth FRC to USCG

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. has delivered the Charles Sexton, the eighth Fast Response Cutter (FRC) to the United States Coast Guard. The announcement was made by Bollinger President, Chris Bollinger, “We are very pleased to announce another successful on-time and on-budget FRC delivery to the U.S. Coast Guard. The Charles Sexton was delivered to the 7th Coast Guard District in Key West, Fla., and will be stationed at USCG Sector Key West. The 154-foot patrol craft Charles Sexton is the eighth vessel in the Coast Guard's Sentinel-class FRC program.

Bollinger Delivers Coast Guard FR-Cutter

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. deliver  'Paul Clark', the sixth Fast Response Cutter (FRC) for the United States Coast Guard. The announcement was made by Bollinger executive vice president of new construction, Chris Bollinger:  “We are very pleased to announce another successful on-time and on-budget FRC delivery to the Coast Guard. The Paul Clark was delivered to the 7th Coast Guard District in Key West, FL, and will be stationed at USCG Sector Miami. The 154 foot patrol craft Paul Clark is the sixth vessel in the Coast Guard's Sentinel-class FRC program.

Technology Associates: $6.1m US Coast Guard Contract

Technology Associates, Inc., a New Orleans based Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering firm signed a contract which, when options are exercised, will exceed $6.1m. The contract is with the U.S. Coast Guard and will provide engineering services to the Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter (FRC) patrol craft Project Resident Office located at Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, La. Crowley & Jensen Maritime Win IWS 2012 Boat Awards

The companies were honored with two significant awards at the recent International Workboat Show (IWS) in New Orleans. Together Crowley Maritime Corp. and subsidiary Jensen Maritime , the company’s Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering firm, were honored with two of the top 10 Significant Boat awards during the seventh-annual International Workboat Show 2012. The first award was for the design of two Crowley-owned ocean class tugboats , the Ocean Wind and Ocean Wave. The second was for Jensen-designed Murden, a hopper dredge vessel developed for the U.S.

Crowley Christen First Two Ocean-class Tugboats

Crowley Maritime Corporation christen 'Ocean Wave' & 'Ocean Wind' built at Bollinger Shipyards, based in Amelia, La. USA. The new tugboats were designed by Crowley subsidiary Jensen Maritime located in New Orleans. At 146 and 156 feet in length, and with a minimum bollard pull of 150 metric tons, Crowley’s new ocean class tugs will be outfitted for long-range, high-capacity ocean towing, rig moves, platform and floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit tows, emergency response and firefighting.

Bollinger Awarded Six OSV Conversions from Hornbeck

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. has been awarded a contract by Hornbeck Offshore Services (HOS) to convert six (6) 200 class DP1 offshore supply vessels (OSV’s), to 240 class DP2 OSV’s. The announcement was made by Bollinger executive vice president, Ben Bordelon, who said, “We are very pleased to announce the award of the HOS Super 200 conversion program. The news of the conversion program was announced by HOS on September 4th 2012, saying they have decided to implement a retrofit program to stretch and upgrade six 200 class DP-1 OSVs into 240 class DP-2 OSV’s.

Bollinger Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., Amelia, La., a Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. company, has delivered the Ocean Wave, the first of four “Ocean” class tugs, to Crowley Maritime Corporation. “We are extremely proud of our Ocean Class team and the delivery of the first in class tug, Ocean Wave, said Chris Bollinger, executive vice president of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. The Ocean Wave is the first of the Ocean class tugs and is the first of two 10,880 BHP tugs that are featured with DP1 capabilities.

Bollinger Long-serve V-P Larry Vauclin to Retire

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. announce the upcoming retirement of its Vice President Central Division, Larry Vauclin. Vauclin’s retirement was announced by Bollinger Executive Vice President, Ben Bordelon, who said, "Larry has been a critical part of the growth of Bollinger over the past 16 years, and a mentor to many in the shipyard industry over his 52 year career. His attention to detail, hard work and focus on client satisfaction have helped create a solid foundation for us going forward.

Wanted: Descendents of the Heroes

Bollinger will honor the namesakes for the fourteen (14) USCG Fast Response Cutters (FRC) currently under contract, by hosting a fleet dedication in March 2012. Bollinger is looking for descendants and will host one or two representatives from each of the families. Bernard C. Robert J. Charles Walter David Jr. Bollinger has been able to contact the families of Bernie Webber, William Flores, and Richard Dixon, but need help locating the others.
