Schottel Propels WSA Diving Bell ship

Schottel, a manufacturer of propulsion and steering systems for ships and offshore applications, said that the new diving bell ship from the Duisburg waterway and shipping authority (WSA Duisburg) is equipped with its propulsion units.Two rudder-propellers and a pump jet enable maximum maneuverability in narrow waterways, said a press release.The special vessel is being built at the Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. DBR Delivers 42 Gensets to Damen

DBR has delivered the last units of an order totaling 42 marine generator sets for Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. The generator sets will be installed on 14 ASD tugs that Damen is building at its Galaţi yard in Romania for a project in the Middle East. “Our engineers are currently executing commissioning and start-up works in Romania,” said DBR Managing Director Herwin Roodenburg. DBR performed the design and engineering work for the whole contract. “The generator sets are executed with double bearing generators and are started by compressed air,” Roodenburg explained.

First PSV 3300 'World Diamond' launched for Norwegian offshore company World Wide Supply (WWS). Damen Shipyards Galaţi (Romenia) has launched the World Diamond, the first of a series of Damen´s newly designed range of PSV 3300 platform suppliers. Research Vessel Delivered by Damen for 'Silent' Operation

Damen delivers silent in operation Research Vessel ‘Simon Stevin’ to DAB Vloot, the Flemish Government fleet operator. The RV 3609 was jointly designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and VLIZ, the Flemish Institute for the Sea. While hull and hot works were built at Damen Shipyards Galati (Romania), the outfitting was done by Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam (The Netherlands). The ‘Simon Stevin’ will be used offshore for scientific research on climate change, sustainable fishing, energy production at sea and for educational purposes.

Serco Takes Delivery of 27th Damen Vessel

Serco took delivery of its 27th Damen vessel in the Port of Amsterdam as a three-year contract for 29 vessels nears completion. In 2007, Serco placed the multi-vessel order with the Damen Shipyards Gorinchem to enable the international services to support the British Royal Navy at its bases in Portsmouth, Devonport and the Clyde. The order included pilot boats, supply boats, tugboats, high-speed craft and barges. All of the vessels are specifically built for the naval contract. The very latest delivery, the SD Christina, is the third of four sister ASD tugs.
