Kongsberg has just signed a contract with Damen Shipyards in the Netherlands for the delivery of a fully integrated Kongsberg Maritime solution to the SeaDream Yacht Club cruise line.Valued at more than $21.5 million, Kongsberg’s most extensive ‘Full Picture’ delivery for an expedition cruise ship, Innovation, also encompasses the supply and integration of propulsion equipment including the new ELegance azimuth pod system, Bergen engines, stabilizers, bridge and automation systems, accompanied by a comprehensive electrical, navigation and hybrid technology package.

Norwegian VARD will incorporate a hull-integrated seawater cooling system for a cable laying vessel the shipbuilder is designing and constructing for energy and telecom cable systems firm Prysmian Group.Ålesund-based Hydroniq Coolers – formerly named Sperre Coolers – said it has been contracted to deliver its Hydroniq Rack seawater cooling solution that will be integrated in the hull below the main engine room of the vessel. Rolls-Royce has unveiled the Bergen B36:45 model, its latest in a series of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled marine engines, at the SMM maritime exhibition in Hamburg.Power output of the LNG-fueled B36:45 engine is identical to that of the liquid-fueled B33:45 at 600kW per cylinder at 750 rpm. Specific energy consumption is a low 7300kj/kWh mechanical ISO including two engine driven pumps; specific lubricating oil consumption is less than 0.4g/kWh.The B36:45 is available in six, eight and nine-cylinder in-line configurations.

Rolls-Royce to Design, Equip New Fishing Vessel
Rolls-Royce said it has signed a contract to deliver ship design and a range of equipment to a 70-meter long stern trawler to be built for Olympic Seafood based in Fosnavåg, Norway.The fishing vessel is to be built by Cemre shipyard in Turkey, who also holds a contracted option for a second vessel of the same type for Olympic Seafood.The vessel is designed for bottom trawling as well as pelagic trawling and will have a modern factory deck arrangement to handle and freeze both white fish and shrimp and ensure a high quality catch. The vessel is expected to be delivered in 2020.
Rolls-Royce's Autocrossing System for 13 New Ferries
Rolls-Royce Marine has signed a deal to supply its Autocrossing system to a total of 13 new environmentally friendly ferries for the Norwegian company Fjord1. The vessels are currently being built by three yards in Turkey and two yards in Norway. All contracts also include two azipull propellers for each vessel with accompanying propeller control system from Rolls-Royce. With this contract, Rolls-Royce has sold autocrossing to a total of 18 new ferries to operate along the coast of Norway, of which 16 have been ordered by Fjord1 and two by another Norwegian ferry company, FosenNamsos Sjø.

Partners Launch Zero Emissions Ferry Project
By combining existing technologies in a new way, it is possible to build ferries that represent a quantum leap for the environment. New Exhaust Gas Sensor Technology Goes to Market
With market testing now complete, new exhaust gas sensor technology from remote marine data monitoring company Azurtane Limited will go to market. From its new company headquarters in Southampton, Azurtane will market sensor technology for ships developed with support by the UK government under the Innovate UK program. Azurtane began trialing its exhaust gas sensing equipment with Southampton-based ferry company Red Funnel in 2013. The project involved second-by-second measurement of the fuel used on each voyage of the Red Jet 4 Hi-Speed ferry service between Southampton and Cowes.
