YANMAR Cruises Into Alaska with Power to Spare

YANMAR only recently arrived in the Pacific Northwest with its mechanical 6AYAM-ET diesel engine. It looks like they are here to stay. In November of last year, YANMAR America and its guests officially opened the YANMAR EVO//CENTER in Acworth, Ga. Situated on 50-plus acres of land in Cherokee County, the new 50,000 square foot facility features six state-of-the-art product training labs with classroom and hands-on space, three classrooms, multiple meeting rooms, office space, a 250-seat auditorium, and myriad other amenities and features.

SGMF, LNG MFI to Pomote LNG as Fuel

The Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) signed a memorandum of understanding with Australia’s LNG MFI to jointly promote the use of liquefied natural gas as fuel. SGMF is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established since 2013 to promote safety and industry best practice in the use of gas as a marine fuel. Governed by a representative Board and driven by two principal Committees, SGMF has several working groups at any one time solving issues and producing outputs such as Guidelines and checklists for the industry.

Ecoshield Coating Option for ZF Thrusters

ZF Marine Krimpen is applying Subsea Industries’ Ecoshield hard coating to the nozzles and underwater components of its azimuth thruster units supplied to vessels operating in inland waterways. John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC is taking delivery of its first “green” inland midstream refueling barge from Tres Palacios Marine in Palacios, Texas. Honda Marine Offers New Finance Program

Outboard marine engine manufacturer Honda Marine informs it has chosen inventory finance company Northpoint Commercial Finance as the exclusive provider of a new finance program designed to provide a flexible approach to floorplanning boat/motor/trailer packages for original equipment manufacturers and dealers. By working closely with OEMs, Northpoint and Honda will help dealers reduce their Honda loose outboard financing cost. The program will allow Honda to design programs specific to the OEM and dealer needs in the marine engine market, the company said.

Korean Register Opens Green-ship Certification Center

The Korean Register informs it has formally opened the Green-ship Equipment Test Certification Center in Gunsan, Jeonbuk, Korea. This large-scale facility will be operated by KR and has been built with the full support of Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the governments of Gunsan City and Jeolla-buk province. In recent years, KR, an IACS member classification society, has been developing eco-friendly technologies through collaboration on a range of R&D activities with marine equipment manufacturers.

Bureau Veritas Awards GTT AIP for LNG Bunker Mast

Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) announced today that it has received approval in principle (AIP) from Bureau Veritas for its bunker mast design, REACH4, (Refueling Equipment Arm, Methane (CH4)). The use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a fuel for all types of transport vessels is evolving, and with it comes the requirement for basic equipment to ensure safe and simple LNG bunkering. GTT has drawn on years of experience with LNG to create a bunker mast system called REACH4, designed to fit on the LNG bunker vessel, permitting a simple and safe transfer of LNG fuel to a client vessel.
