ABB Offering Continuous Engine Performance Evaluation

ABB Turbocharging has introduced a new digital offering aiming to enhance the insights delivered by its engine performance diagnostics software, ABB Ability Tekomar XPERT.The new ‘continuous evaluation’ function allows the software to use engine data gathered by edge computing services, adding a new dimension to Tekomar XPERT’s monitoring, reporting and advisory capabilities, ABB says.“Continuous evaluation allows for the cloud-to-cloud transfer of engine data from edge computing platforms to Tekomar XPERT,” says Pascal Reolon, Product Manager, ABB Turbocharging.

Rolls-Royce Debuts Cloud-based Energy Management Module

Rolls-Royce has unveiled a ‘cloud-based’ fuel consumption and carbon dioxide monitoring module designed to help ship owners meet the European Union’s Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) regulation. Starting January 1, 2018, collection and reporting of voyage data will become a mandatory, as owners of vessels over 5,000 gross metric tons that call at European Union ports will be required to monitor, report and verify their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. ClassNK Begins Testing CBM System

ClassNK has commenced verification tests of its next-generation condition-based monitoring (CBM) system ClassNK CMAXS e-GICSX for Mitsui’s MAN B&W engines. The system is being jointly developed by ClassNK, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., and MES Technoservice Co., Ltd. and the verification test is being conducted on a MOL-managed vessel with the cooperation of Mitsui O.S.K.
