OXE Video Draws 200K Views

Laborde Products, the Gulf Coast and central U.S. engine distributor behind OXE - the world’s first high power diesel outboard, recently attended the Miami International Boat Show, where the diesel out-board created quite the buzz.The show buzz shortly went viral after the YouTube, rib, and yacht tender restoration aficionado, Al-fred Montaner, took a demo ride with the Laborde Products crew.Boarding a BRIG 730 with drone and camera in hand, Montaner documented the quiet yet powerful ride of CIMCOs diesel outboard.

Three Generations Backed by Four Mitsubishi Engines

The female dynasty of Vidalia Dock and Storage are no strangers to the Murky Mississippi, nor the advantage of a Mitsubishi powered vessel. When it came to repowering the Sonny J., Vidalia Dock knew right where to go.Purchased in early 2018, the vessel was fitted with a pair of 600HP Cummins K19 engines. With the goal of EPA Tier compliance and engine reliability, Laborde Products provided two fully mechanical Mitsubishi S6R-Y3MPTAW Tier III engines for the 65x24 vessel; these engines are rated 684HP @1800RPM each with Twin Disc 7:1 transmissions.

Smith Maritime Hauls Equipment to Puerto Rico

Smith Maritime recently hauled a barge load of equipment on behalf of CAT5 Resources to help rebuild cellular communication infrastructure in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.   Smith Maritime’s barge Marilyn Monroe was loaded at its terminal in Amelia, La. with vehicles, housing, bulk fuel, food and most importantly, self-powered cellular communication towers to reestablish communication on the island.     Marilyn Monroe was towed by the tug Elsbeth 2, powered by fully mechanical Mitsubishi engines supplied by distributor Laborde Products and rated 1,675 HP at 1,600 RPM each.

Laborde Products’ Vapor Power Heater Service

Since 2013, Laborde Products has been the nationwide distributor of Vapor Power’s Hi-R-Temp Thermal Fluid Heaters for the maritime industry. New Push Boat Delivered to Devall Towing

The newly built M/V Jackson Scott has been delivered to owner Devall Towing and Boat Service of Hackberry, La. The Jackson Scott is a 64’ X 27’ inland push boat, powered by two fully mechanical, EPA Tier 3 engines rated 630HP @ 1,600RPM. The engines are coupled to Twin Disc MG 5222 transmissions turning four-blade 70” X 56” propellers. The M/V Jackson Scott follows four previous Devall Towboats with the same propulsion package from Laborde Products. Earlier vessels included the M/V Tug Devall, M/V Cooper Devall, M/V Aidan Devall and M/V Finili Ryanne.

MTEA Launches New EPA Tier 3 Marine Engine

Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine America, Inc. (MTEA) announces the introduction of a 684 hp at 1,800 rpm (510 kW at 1,800 rpm) engine that complies with EPA Tier 3 regulations. The new S6R-Y3MPTAW-1 model is a propulsion-certified unit ideal for heavy-duty workboat repower applications, such as with tugboats, cargo ships and offshore vessels. It’s a high horsepower, high displacement and high mass solution that achieves Tier 3 compliance in a fully mechanically controlled package.

Tradewinds Towing Returns to Laborde for Repowers

In September of 2006, Dominique Smith of the then one tug company Tradewinds Towing came to Laborde Products, to look at the S12R engine for the repower of the Miss Lis, an Alaskan built low profile tug he planned on repowering. Later that same month, the deal was made, and shortly thereafter, the Miss Lis set sail with new Mitsubishi engines and Reintjes transmissions supplied by Laborde Products. Since then, the engines have logged over 30,000 hours travelling throughout North, Central and South America.

Laborde Repowers Much of Stone Oil Fleet

In January 2014, Laborde Products sold its first Mitsubishi engine to John W. Stone Oil for the vessel John W. Stone. Since then, Laborde has supplied the Gretna, Louisiana-based oil distributor with seven more Mitsubishis, repowering half of its fleet. The John W. Stone, Olga G. Stone and Moose are now powered by a S12A2-Y2MPTK at 940 hp, while the Jennifer, Shell Fueler, Hiawatha and Custom each have a S6R-Y2MPTK at 630 hp. Stone Power utilizes a S12R-Y3MPTAW at 1,100 hp. Laborde Offshore Vessels Repowered

Laborde’s Mitsubishi engine lineup is ideal for upgrading older small utility boats. Gulf Ranger, a 150’ supply vessel was brought the vessel into compliance with Tier 3. Twin Mitsubishi S6R2-Y3MPTAW engines, rated 803 hp at 1400 rpm, ensure dependability, performance and fuel efficiency. Steyr Pulls Its Weight

Located 50 miles north of Houston, Texas, is Lake Conroe. Nestled in the piney woods, it's a hotspot for recreational boating and fishing. When people on the water suddenly find themselves stuck on a submerged stump or have engine problems, Captain Gary Lewis of TowBoatUS Lewis Towing & Salvage is ready with a hawser. Mitsubishi Engines Running Strong after 11 Years

To help increase business and provide even better service for its customers, Laborde Products has been chosen as a Steyr Motors distributor. The company will offer sales, service and support throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin. Laborde will also offer dealer support along the Eastern seaboard of Mexico, from the Texas border to Cancun.
