Schottel to Power 'Wind of Hope'

Schottel will provide a range of propulsion systems for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs's second wind farm service operation vessel (SOV) the Wind of Hope.The new walk-to-work vessel, a sister vessel to the Wind of Change SOV, is currently under construction at Cemre shipyard in Turkey and will enter service operating under a long-term contract with Ørsted.The propulsion system of the vessel designed by Salt Ship Design vessel is powered by four diesel generators, which drive the electric motors of the Schottel propulsion package.

SCHOTTEL Propels Barges, Cranes for Coal-fired Plant

SCHOTTEL has supplied propulsion systems for four Full Azimuthal Electrical (FAZEL) barges and two Floating Crane Transhipper Units (FCTU) dedicated to transhipment for Dubai’s Hassyan coal power plant. United Wind Logistics Picks MAN GenSets for Newbuilding

Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard Group Co,.Ltd has ordered 2 × MAN 9L 21/31 + 2 × MAN 6L16/24 GenSets in connection with the construction of an modern deck carrier. ABB’s Onboard DC Grid on Hybrid Wind Farm Vessel

ABB will optimize the safety and environmental credentials of a new Louis Dreyfus Armateurs wind farm Service Operation Vessel (SOV) by installing Onboard DC Grid power distribution to enable the cost-efficient integration of batteries. As an integral part of the power system, the Power and Energy Management System (PEMS) will ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessel. The hybrid system enables lean operation with fewer running generators without compromising on safety, meaning less maintenance and better fuel consumption over the long-term.

EPROX Chosen for Wind Service Vessel

Turkish shipyard, Cemre Marin Endüstri A.Ş, has ordered 4 × MAN 8L21/31 variable-speed GenSets, in connection with the construction of a wind service operation vessel (WSOV) for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA), the French shipowner. The newbuilding will also feature MAN’s EPROX (Energy Saving Electric Propulsion System) that will reduce the vessel’s CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. The MAN engines will be prepared for IMO Tier III and set up such that they can be retrofitted at a later time with MAN’s state-of-the-art SCR system.

Fairmount Sherpa Tows Rig Atwood Condor

Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Sherpa has delivered rig Atwood Condor fast and safely in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The semi submersible rig was towed from Port Louis, Mauritius, over a distance of 8,100 nautical miles with an average speed of 8.5 knots. The Atwood Condor is a 2012 Singapore build dynamically positioned semi submersible drilling unit capable of operating in 3,050 meters of water and drilling depths up to 12,200 meters. The 118 meter long state-of-theart rig has a accommodation capacity for up to 200 persons. The rig is owned by Atwood Oceanics, headquartered in Houston, US.
