Large Containerhip Order for MAN ES

Eastern Pacific Shipping exercised an option connected with an order for 5 × 15,000-TEU containerships placed in November 2017, and requested another six vessels. All 11 engines involved in the order will be powered by MAN B&W-branded two-stroke engines.The first five engines will be conventional MAN B&W 11G90ME-C units equipped with scrubbers that are due for delivery between 2019-2020. The additional six units will be built as MAN B&W 11G90ME-GI dual-fuel configurations operating on LNG with delivery dates scheduled between 2020-2022.

First Mega-Boxship Retrofit to LNG Ordered

Hapag-Lloyd pilot gas-conversion leads the way for emissions reduction and decarbonizationMAN Energy Solutions has signed a contract for the conversion of a 15,000 TEU container vessel to dual-fuel operation. The container vessel MV SAJIR is owned by Hapag-Lloyd, a leading liner shipping companies, and normally serves a route from Asia to northern Europe via the Suez canal. The pilot project will entail the conversion of an existing, HFO-burning MAN B&W 9S90ME-C engine to a dual-fuel MAN B&W ME-GI (-Gas Injection) prime mover capable of running on HFO and LNG.

MAN CEON Platform Introduced

MAN Energy Solutions introduced its new digital platform, MAN CEON, designed to collect and evaluate operating and sensor data, enabling real-time monitoring of marine or power-plant engines, turbines and compressors. "MAN CEON is the new backbone of our developing digital-service business," said Per Hansson, Head of Digital and Strategy at MAN Energy Solutions. "All of our machines, whether engines or turbomachinery, are equipped with hundreds of sensors that transmit data constantly. MAN CEON enables the efficient collection, storage and evaluation of these data volumes.

MAN Unveils New TCT Turbocharger

MAN Energy Solutions has unveiled its new TCT axial turbocharger series specifically optimised for Tier III operation, suitable for both conventional and dual-fuelled, two- and four-stroke engines.The TCT series has been introduced to accompany and – eventually – replace the TCA generation whose design has been continuously updated since its introduction but is now some 15 years old. The event took place at the premises of the local MAN PrimeServ Academy.With TCT turbochargers, MAN Energy Solutions can significantly reduce turbocharger dimensions to meet current market requirements.

Med Tier III Harbor Tug Powered by MAN

MAN Energy Solutions won the contract to supply the engines for a new harbor tug in Spain, unique in that it is reportedly the first IMO Tier III compliant tug operating in the Mediterranean.P&O Reyser will operate the 27-m, 75T bollard-pull-rated Asymmetric Tractor Tug (ATT) in the Port of Barcelona, which is expected to enter service from mid-2020.The tug will feature 2 × MAN 12V175D MM, IMO Tier III engines, each rated at 2,220 kWm. MAN 175D SCR System Wins IMO Tier III Certification

Grimaldi: 18 Engines Ordered for 9 Ships

MAN Energy Solutions has won the order to supply 18 × MAN B&W 9S50ME-C9.6 TIER II-compliant main engines for 9 × 7,800 lane-meter RoRo vessels intended for operation in the Mediterranean Sea. The customer is the Grimaldi Group, the Naples, Italy-based shipping company and leading operator within the RoRo segment. MAN Energy Solutions’ two-stroke licensee – Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (Engine & Machinery Business Unit) – will build the engines in Korea, while Jiangsu Jinling Shipyard Co. Ltd. will construct the vessels in Nanjing, China.

LGP-Fuelled ME-LGIP to Power Chinese VLGC

MAN Scores OffShore Wind Reference

MAN Energy Solutions reported that it won an order to supply the engines for a new heavy-lift crane installation-vessel for Oslo-based OHT (Offshore Heavy Transport).In total, MAN ES will supply four MAN 12V32/44CR GenSets with a total output of 28,800 kW for the ship, which is being built at the shipyard of China Merchants Heavy Industry in Haimen/Nantong with delivery due in Q4, 2020. The order is for a single vessel, with options for three more.The Alfa Lift is a heavy installation crane vessel design with semi-submersible heavy transportation capabilities.

MAN Wins First Order for High-Pressure SCR Two-Stroke Engines

German marine engineering giant MAN Energy Solutions has announced the very first order for its SCR-HP (Selective Catalytic Reduction – High Pressure) product. According to a press release from the producer of large-bore diesel engines and turbomachinery for marine industry, Mitsui (MES) has ordered 3 × SCR-HP (cluster 3) units in connection with the building of three 87k-dwt bulk carriers for the Ocean 21 Holdings company.Each bulker will be powered by a single MAN B&W 6S46ME-B8.5 low-speed engine delivering 9,900 kW at 84 rpm, and aspirated by an MAN TCA66 turbocharger.

Marine Power: First Order for High-Pressure SCR for Two-Stroke Engines

MAN Energy Solutions announced the first order for its SCR-HP (Selective Catalytic Reduction – High Pressure) product. United Wind Logistics Picks MAN GenSets for Newbuilding

Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard Group Co,.Ltd has ordered 2 × MAN 9L 21/31 + 2 × MAN 6L16/24 GenSets in connection with the construction of an modern deck carrier. MAN Power for Chinese Dredger

MAN Energy Solutions won the order to supply the engine for a new dredger in southern China. The MAN 9L48/60CR unit will power the newbuilding vessel currently under construction at Dongguan Xiandai Shipbuilding Co. for sister company, Dongguan Rundong Shipping Co., Ltd., which will produce sand for the local construction industry.The four-stroke 9L48/60CR engine is rated at 9,720 kW @ 514 rpm and features MAN Energy Solutions’ exhaust-gas turbocharging and two-stage charge-air cooling. It is designed for heavy-duty operation – even with fuel qualities down to HFO-700 cSt / 50°C.

LNG Switch for first of six Baleària Ferries
