Monjasa Named Exclusive Bunker Supplier at Tongue Anchor

Global oil and shipping group Monjasa said it has consolidated its physical operations in North Western Europe and in particular in the world’s second busiest waterway, the English Channel. Over the past year, Monjasa has established exclusive oil terminal operations and bunkering facilities in Portland Port, Tongue Anchorage, and set up an office in London. The bunkering operations at Tongue Anchorage further tightens the Monjasa Group’s European physical supply operations, which stretch from the Baltic Sea to the English Channel.

MAN Diesel & Turbo Planning for New North American HQ

The business park at Twinwood, a new west Houston destination for companies dedicated to research and development, distribution and light manufacturing, has finalized its first agreement to bring MAN Diesel & Turbo’s new North America headquarters to the 650-acre property. Located just south of I-10 between Woods Road and FM 1489, the business park at Twinwood is part of a proposed, 14,000-acre master-planned community of low, medium and high-density residential along with retail, hospitality, higher education and office. The property is owned by Houston businessman Putera Sampoerna.

Virtue Investment Pumping up to $5 Mln into PBES

PBES and Virtue Investment Fund today announced the completion of terms and transfer of first tranche of funds for an investment into PBES’ parent company TTB Holdings. In a first investment phase Virtue Investment is initially investing up to $5M USD into the group and is committed to investing further during 2018. This investment will provide PBES energy storage both immediate and on going financial support to help develop global markets and position PBES for initial public offering in 2018.

MOL Adopts 'Common Rail Fuel Injection' System

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that its group company, Mitsui O.S.K. Kinkai, Ltd. will use a main engine equipped with the MAN Diesel & Turbo SE (MDT)-developed “common rail fuel injection system” on a newbuilding vessel. Shop test of the main engine was completed on January 29 and the vessel is slated for launching in 2018. After launched, Mitsui O.S.K. Kinkai, MDT and Makita Corporation(President: Yu Makita; headquarters: Takamatsu-shi, Kagawa Prefecture)will continue testing the system with support from MOL while the vessel is in service.

NYK's Diagnostic Tool to Prevent Machinery Failure

NYK and MTI Co. Ltd. have jointly developed a diagnostic tool that records, visualizes, and analyzes the operational sounds of a vessel’s engine plant. CMA CGM Slashes CO2 Emissions 4% in 2016

CMA CGM Group said it has reduced its CO2 emissions per container transported by 4 percent in 2016. In 2016, the Group has succeeded in reducing its carbon emissions in line with its 2025 targets. The CMA CGM Group intends to reduce its CO2 emissions per transported container by 30 percent by 2025. CMA CGM had already improved its performance per transported container per kilometer by 50 percent between 2005 and 2015. China Shipyard Gets QN Group Bulk Carrier Orders

Queensland Nickel Group (QN) subsidiary Asia Pacific Shipping Enterprises (APSE) orders four 64,000 dwt ultramax bulk carriers. The contract has been signed with the Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation Company of China, Chanjiang National Shipping Group and the China Changjiang National Shipping Group Corporation Jinling Shipyard. “The four vessels, for the use of QN, will be built at the China Changjiang National Shipping Group Corporation Jinling Shipyard, and we anticipate receiving delivery between February and June 2014,” said QN Managing Director Phil Collins.

Gulf Petrochem Expands European Bunkering Division

Gulf Petrochem Group, the UAE based global bunker supplier, said it is now officially offering physical supply of Gasoil on the River Thames, U.K. The group’s deliveries will be carried out using a barge on an exclusive long-term charter named the Conveyer. The move will allow Gulf Petrochem Group to supply ISO compliant Gasoil to its customers at all ports and wharfs along the Thames and Medway. Further, the group’s Rotterdam operations have added to its current fleet with the time charter of The Melbourne.

NorSea Opens New MGO Facility in Peterhead

NorSea Group UK (Ltd) has completed Phase I of its multi-million dollar investment at its Shore Base within Peterhead Port with the opening of a new custom-built Marine Gas Oil (MGO) facility on Smith Quay. Two MGO tanks, which hold a combined total of 3000 cu. m.  of fuel, are now operational. This represents an expansion in the range of services currently provided directly to clients by NorSea Group at Peterhead as project support and supply vessels can now be fuelled directly at the quay.

Rolls-Royce Inks US Waterjets Distribution, Service Deal

Rolls-Royce has signed a deal with Pacific Power Group to distribute and service Kamewa steel and aluminum series waterjets in the Western U.S., Alaska and Hawaii. Pacific Power Group, a longtime distributor for Rolls-Royce MTU diesel engines, has been providing sales, service and engineering solutions for the marine industry for over 30 years. By joining forces with Pacific Power Group, Rolls-Royce customers will have access to a single source provider for a complete range of propulsion components including engines, control systems and waterjets.

Keppel, BG Group JV to supply LNG Bunkers in Singapore

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through its wholly-owned subsidiary KS Investments Pte Ltd (KSI), and BG Group plc (BG Group) have been selected to supply Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunker to vessels in the Port of Singapore. The joint bid submitted by Keppel O&M and BG Group for the LNG bunker supplier licence is one of the two top bids selected by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The awarding of the licence is in line with the Port of Singapore's plans to launch the LNG Bunkering Pilot Programme in 2017.

China Shipyard Wins Multiple Container Ship Orders

Ship operators Bernhard Schulte & US banking institution JP Morgan have come together to order a series of medium-size boxships in China. Zhejiang Yangfan Group will construct up to eight 2,300 teu boxships for the pair in a four plus four option deal with deliveries scheduled in 2014 and 2015. Pricing is thought to be in the region of US$26.5-million per ship.  Zhejiang Yangfan Group is the largest shipbuilding group in Zhejiang Province and the scope of its bussiness operation includes shipbuilding and marine outfitting.
