Dual-fuel Escort Tug for Østensjø Rederi
The first of three new dual fuel RAstar 4000-DF class extreme escort tugs, the Dux, has been delivered to Østensjø Rederi AS by Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros Gondán S.A. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd., the 40.2 meter vessel is the first of a three boat order from Østensjø for severe weather operations at Statoil's Melkøya LNG Gas terminal at Hammerfest in the extreme north of Norway. Polaris: World´s First LNG-Powered Icebreaker Delivered
Arctech Helsinki Shipyard delivered the most powerful newcomer in the Finnish Icebreaker fleet, icebreaker Polaris, to the Finnish Transport Agency on September 28th, 2016. The Finnish Transport Agency handed the vessel over to Arctia Icebreaking Oy. The prototype vessel built at Helsinki Shipyard is designed to serve for at least 50 years in icebreaking, oil recovery and sea rescue operations. Previous time an Finnish icebreaker with similar size range was completed in year 1994.
First Damen Tug for Fratelli Neri
Fratelli Neri S.p.A has taken delivery of a Damen ASD Tug 3212. The new vessel, called Luisa Neri, was handed over from Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam in the Netherlands, on 25 January 2016. The vessel represents two firsts: it is Fratelli Neri’s first Damen newbuild tug and it is the first ASD Tug in the Mediterranean with a Damen render-recovery winch. Damen is renowned for its quick delivery times and this contract further reinforces that fact: the smooth process from contract to delivery taking just 5 months.

U.S. Navy Contracts 12 Rapid Response Skimmers

CMA CGM Reducing Fleet CO2 Emissions
The CMA CGM Group confirms its objective to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by the end of 2015 (compared to 2005). On the occasion of the June 5 World Environment Day, the CMA CGM Group, the world’s third largest container shipping company and number one in France, confirmed its objective set at 50% reduction CO2/teu-km between 2005 and 2015. In 2013, the global operated fleet CO2 performance has been improved by 4%, and even 8% for the owned fleet, thus a 40% reduction achieved since 2005.
China's CNOOC Place Large Scana OSV Propulsion Systems Order
Scana Industrier has through its Norway-based subsidiary Scana Propulsion signed contracts with a value around 50 million NOK in second half 2013. The orders are related to delivery of propulsion systems for offshore vessels within China. The contracts are signed with companies within the CNOOC group and includes delivery of gear, propellers, remote controlling and tunnel thrusters for Anchor Handling Supply Vessels and Oil Recovery Vessels. Delivery will be during second quarter 2014.

The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) publishes its report on facilities for discharge of oil collected following a major oil spill in the sea. This report is the main deliverable of the project "Study on discharge facilities for oil recovered at sea – Geographical distribution, technical challenges, solutions and alternatives related to the discharge of oil recovered at sea by specialised vessels, following a large oil spill in Europe" (EMSA OP/07/2011), commissioned by EMSA.

Technip Wins Substantial Norway Offshore Contract
Technip wins a Statoil contract for fabrication, installation & tie-ins of flowlines for the Gullfaks South field development. The Gullfaks South field development is in the northern part of the North Sea, located approximately 190 kilometers northwest of Bergen, Norway, at water depths between 130 and 220 meters. The Gullfaks South project development will contribute to Statoil’s extensive initiatives on increased oil recovery and consists of two manifolds(2) tied back to the existing Gullfaks South infrastructure by 20 kilometers of new flowlines.
Rolls-Royce's First Gas Powered PSV Delivered
Rolls-Royce announce that Island Offshore has taken delivery of Island Crusader, the first gas powered Rolls-Royce offshore vessel. This new and advanced UT 776 CDG platform supply vessel, is the first of two ordered by Island Offshore. This is the first offshore vessel to feature lean burn gas engines as main engines. As a result Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions will be reduced by about 90 percent while Sulphur Oxide (SOx) emissions and particulates will be negligible. CO2 emissions will also be significantly reduced.
