NASSCO to Construct Two Product Tankers for Seabulk
General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, has entered into a contract with Seabulk Tankers, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SEACOR Holdings Inc., for the design and construction of two 50,000 deadweight ton LNG-conversion-ready product carriers each with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity. Construction of the first tanker is scheduled to begin in late 2014, with deliveries scheduled for the second quarter of 2016 and first quarter of 2017. The tankers will be constructed at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego.
Fuel-saving Modifications for Containerships’ Engines
Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., and 100% owned subsidiary MES Technoservice Co., Ltd., have received an order from a Taiwan shipowner for fuel-efficiency modifications to the main engine (Mitsui-MAN B&W 12K98MC/M6) of three large type container vessels. In recent years the rising costs of fuel oil together with the need to reduce the environmental impact of shipping vessels have sharply increased the practice of slow steaming especially for large container vessels whose annual fuel oil costs can run into the billions of Yen.
ST Engineering Wins $60m Shipbuilding Contracts
Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) reports that its marine arm, ST Marine, has won two shipbuilding contracts worth about $60m from Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (Pte) Ltd (SPO), a wholly owned subsidiary of Swire Pacific Limited. These contracts to build and outfit two Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels, measuring 92m by 22m, are in addition to the existing shipbuilding contract with SPO, announced in June 2011 for four AHTS vessels. For these contracts, SPO will supply a larger proportion of the major equipment for ST Marine’s integration and installation.
Mercury Marine Launches Repower Financing
Mercury Marine launched a new repower finance program that aims to make it easier for consumers to get the engine performance they want with flexible financing for a broad range of buyers. The Mercury Repower Finance program is funded by Medallion Bank, a marine industry leader that specializes in accepting buyers with a wide range of credit histories. Program administration is handled by Brunswick Financial Services, a fully owned subsidiary of Brunswick Corporation, the worldwide marine manufacturing leader.
Shanghai Marine Engine Piston Plant Opened by KSPG
German headquartered KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH, a subsidiary of first-tier auto-component supplier KSPG AG, has established a sales and production facility in the Shangai Region operated by its subsidiary KSLP (China) Co. Ltd.The company will supply large-bore pistons for marine engines, locomotives and stationary generators to customers in China, Japan, and Korea. The new facility joins the Group's large-bore piston plants in Neckarsulm, Germany, und Marinette, Wisconsin, USA, and will focus on pistons with diameters of 160 to 350 mm for medium-speed diesel and gas engines.
US Navy Awards $78M Submarine Procurement Contract
The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $78 million contract to buy long lead-time material for the Virginia-class submarine SSN-792. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). The contract provides funding for steam and electrical-plant components, the main propulsion unit and ship-service turbine generator set, as well as miscellaneous hull, mechanical and electrical-systems components to support construction of SSN-792, which will begin in 2014.
General Dynamics Awarded Virginia-Class Submarine Procurement
The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $121.8 million contract modification to buy long lead-time material for three Virginia-class submarines, SSN-793, SSN-794 and SSN-795. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. The contract provides funding for steam and electrical-plant components, main propulsion unit and ship-service turbine generator sets, as well as miscellaneous hull, mechanical and electrical-systems components to support construction of the submarines. With the modification, the contract has a value of $716.5 million.

Rolls-Royce Wins Sinopacific Contract
Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group (Sinopacific) in Shanghai for a package of power and propulsion equipment and deck machinery. The contract is to equip nine SPA80A Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels to be designed and built by Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group and owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, ESNAAD. Each ship will have a bollard pull of 80 metric tons, and be equipped with Bergen diesel engines, main and tunnel thrusters, electrical power system and a deck machinery package from Rolls-Royce.
FPSO Contract for COSCO
COSCO Corp. (Singapore) secures contract to construct a Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) vessel in China. COSCO Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of the Company’s 51% owned subsidiary, COSCO Shipyard Group Co. Ltd., has secured a contract valued over US$ 370-million from a European company to build a FPSO. The FPSO will measure 78 meters in diameter, 32 meters high and will have a storage capacity of up to 400,000 barrels of oil. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in June 2015.
Offshore Accommodation Rig Order for COSCO
COSCO Corp. (Singapore} subsidiary COSCO Qidong Offshore Co to build the accommodation rig for European joint venture company. The contract, valued at US$200-million.is for the construction of a harsh environment semi-submersible accommodation rig for Axis Offshore, a joint venture between Danish shipowner, J. Lauritzen and Norwegian private equity fund, HitecVision. Signatory of the contract was COSCO Qidong Offshore Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of the Company’s 51% owned subsidiary, COSCO Shipyard Group Co., Ltd Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2015.

Seadrill - North Atlantic Drilling Ltd. announces extension of Statoil contract for the harsh environment jack-up rig 'West Epsilon'. STX Europe Sells Norwegian Shipyard
STX Europe AS sells STX Norway Florø AS and STX Norway Design Florø AS to Westcon Group AS. STX Europe completes the sale of all of the shares in its wholly owned subsidiaries STX Norway Florø AS and STX Norway Design Florø AS to Westcon Group AS. The order backlog of STX Norway Florø AS was NOK 59 million at the end of Q3 2012 and the order book consisted mainly of one offshore pipelay vessel, the "Deep Energy". STX Norway Design Florø AS is a subsidiary of STX Europe, situated at the Florø Yard.
Offshore Platform/ROV Support Vessel Delivered
Singapore's Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte. Ltd. takes delivery of the vessel from Colombo Dockyard, Sri Lnaka. Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte. Ltd. (GGOS), a Singapore incorporated subsidiary of Greatship (India) Limited (GIL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited has taken delivery of a Platform/ROV Support Vessel, Greatship Ragini. Greatship Ragini is a DP2 vessel, capable of supporting offshore exploration and production and has been built complying with the SPS Code 2008.
China Shipyard Delivers Handymax Bulk Carrier
COSCO Corporation (Singapore) Limited subsidiary COSCO (Guandong) Shipyard has successfully delivered the vessel to a European owner. The bulk carrier of 57000 dwt, named Klima measures 189.99 meters in LOA, 32.26 meters in breadth and 18 meters in depth. COSCO Guandong is a 51% owned subsidiary of COSCO Shipyard Group Ltd. COSCO add that the delivery documents were signed by and between COSCO Guangdong and the buyer on 8 January 2013.
General Dynamics Wins $12m Navy Deal
General Dynamics Awarded $12 Million for Virginia-Class Repair Parts General Dynamics Electric Boat has received an $11.5 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to provide on-board repair parts for Virginia-class submarines. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). The modification was exercised under the $14 billion contract awarded to Electric Boat in December 2008 for the construction of eight Virginia-class submarines, and has a potential value of $85 million.
