Paraguay’s Tsuneishi Shipyard, a subsidiary of the Japanese firm of the same name, recently delivered the powerful towboat Tebicuary 3 to her owners Navegación del Sur S.A. (Navesur) in June of 2018. Wärtsilä, Hidrovias Group Ink Maintenance Deal
Wärtsilä and Hidrovias do Brasil signed a five-year Optimized Maintenance agreement on the fleet of eight pusher tugs operating in the rivers of South America. The agreement enables flexible maintenance planning and execution according to the real condition of the equipment, thus ensuring better lifecycle value for the vessels. Hidrovias pusher tugs offer high-quality logistic solutions for the transportation of agricultural commodities, ores, steel products and other loads, with customized long-term projects in the rivers of Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.
REINTJES Opens Paraguay Branch
Propulsion specialist REINTJES continues with the expansion of its worldwide sales and service network with a new branch office in Paraguay. The new office opened March 1 to service the markets of Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and the south of Chile. The new office will be managed by Marcelo Escondeur, already a business partner for REINTJES in his position as general manager of the distributor Hardo Consulting Cono Sur Srl. Escondeur has 15 years of marine industry experience, especially in the propulsion sector for push boats and fishing vessels.

The Paraguay-Paraná river system extends over 2,500 kilometers and is characterized by alterations of the rivers' flow, dams, sedimentation, forestry, silting and pollution which have great impact on a vessel’s propulsion system.
Wärtsilä enters Paraguayan Inland Market
A new pushboat used to push barges convoys along the Paraguay River will be powered by a Wärtsilä integrated propulsion solution. The vessel is being built at the "Astillero la Barca del Pescador" (Shipyard SA) yard in Paraguay on behalf of Naviera Yeruti, a Paraguayan company with extensive barge construction and vessel operating interests. This vessel will be the company's first pushboat and it is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2015. The contract with Shipyard SA was signed in December 2013 and Wärtsilä's equipment will be delivered in the third quarter of 2014.
South American Operator Re-Powers with Cummins
Navios South American Logistics Inc. is a provider of river transportation on the Inland Water Ways (IWW) of the Paraguay-Paraná Rivers. With a fleet of more than 250 barges and 20 well equipped push-boats on the river, the firm also operates sea-going product tankers. Recently they have repowered the first of their push boats, the 30 by 9.5 by 2.7-meter Tomas Romero Pereira, in Paraguay at the Shipyard Aguapé of Asunción city. The IWW Paraná-Paraguay is the most important waterway in South America after the Amazon river system.
