Offshore Wind Drives Demand for US Support Vessels

The offshore energy boom: more than wind. Domestic offshore wind also promises to generate demand for new, efficiently propelled support vessels. Volvo Penta Earns 15th Consecutive NMMA Award

Volvo Penta was honored with an annual Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) award presented by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for its marine sterndrive systems. Volvo Penta is the only marine sterndrive manufacturer to win a CSI award for 15 years in a row. The marine industry CSI award signifies that the Volvo Penta sterndrives achieved and maintained a standard of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction. It was based on surveys of customers who purchased a new boat or engine during the period from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2017.

Volvo Penta Grooms Future of Technical Talent

When Aleric Sanders returns to Old Dominion University this month, the rising senior will know a thing or two about customer service, skill development and how to install a marine engine, thanks to his summer internship at Volvo Penta of the Americas. Sanders is one of 14 students who reported to the company’s Chesapeake, Va., headquarters in May to gain hands-on experience working for a global business that designs, builds and sells engines for leisure boats, commercial vessels and industrial applications.

Volvo Penta Launches New Tier 4 Open Power Units

Volvo Penta has introduced a new line of EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV PowerPac industrial open power units for OEM manufacturers. Volvo Penta is initially deploying the PowerPac systems in the Americas, and will roll out the products for industrial customers worldwide through the company’s global distribution channels. The PowerPac systems come equipped with a complete set of preinstalled components including all Tier 4F/Stage IV after-treatment components, engine cooling system (radiator and CAC), air and fuel filters and mounting brackets.

Volvo Penta’s Kull a Top Woman in Manufacturing

Marcia Kull, vice president of marine sales for Volvo Penta of the Americas, has been selected by the Manufacturing Institute as one of the top women in U.S. manufacturing for 2016. Kull and the other honorees will be recognized at the fourth annual Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award at a gala dinner April 21 in Washington, D.C. The STEP Ahead Awards celebrate those women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers in all levels of the manufacturing industry, from the factory floor to the C-suite.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has presented the 13th consecutive annual Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) award to Volvo Penta for its gasoline sterndrive engines. The CSI awards, presented at the Miami International Boat Show Feb. 11, recognize boat and engine manufacturers for excellence in customer satisfaction. Volvo Penta was the only company to win a CSI award in the sterndrive category this year. Volvo Penta Wins NMMA's CSI Award

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) this week presented the 12th consecutive Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) award to Volvo Penta recognizing excellence in customer satisfaction in marine sterndrive engines. The CSI award is based on an independent survey of over 50,000 consumers purchasing a new boat or engine during the period from April 2014 through March 2015. The CSI award signifies that Volvo Penta achieved and maintained an independently measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher.

Volvo Penta Debuts Marine Gas Sterndrive Engines

Volvo Penta today unveiled its new family of next-generation 5.3L V8 gasoline engines for the marine sterndrive market in a press preview at the company’s Test Center in Suffolk, Va. “Volvo Penta has a rich history of innovation in marine propulsion, and with these next-generation V8s, we are establishing a new industry benchmark for acceleration, speed, weight-to-power ratio, fuel economy, emissions reduction and proven reliability,” said Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Penta of the Americas. Volvo Penta is the official engine supplier for the 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race, which is having its North American stopover in Newport, R.I., this week. “The Volvo Ocean Race serves as a crucible for developing and testing new technologies that will benefit the entire marine industry,” said Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Penta of the Americas. Volvo Penta Names Puscar Marketing Director

Marcelo Puscar has been appointed as director of marketing at Volvo Penta of the Americas.
