Jurong Marine Services Orders LNG Hybrid Tug

Sembcorp Marine subsidiary Jurong Marine Services has ordered a hybrid tug for delivery from the Sembcorp Marine shipyard by the end of 2020.The tug, which will operate in Singapore harbor, will be equipped with ABB’s electric propulsion, power, energy storage, control and automation technology, making it the first tug in South Asia capable of switching between low emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines and zero-emission battery power, ABB said.LNG as a fuel virtually eliminates sulphur oxide emissions…

Wärtsilä Thrusters on Sea Trials for Large SSCV

Performance of the propulsion solutions supplied by the technology group Wärtsilä exceeded the design specification and contributed to the success of the sea trials for the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV). The ‘Sleipnir’ was built at Sembcorp Marine’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore for the Dutch offshore contractor Heerema Offshore Services (HOS). It was delivered from the yard in July.The huge vessel is designed for heavy lifting operations and is fitted with two cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes.

SCHOTTEL Wins Deal for Three Hybrid Ferries

SCHOTTEL secured a contract to provide propulsion units for three newly built hybrid ferries under construction at Sembcorp Marine, Singapore. Each of the double ended RoPax ferries will be equipped with two SCHOTTEL EcoPellers type SRE 340 FP. The vessels will be driven by an battery/diesel electric hybrid system and will be operated during their transits by green battery power. The main propulsion for the LMG 80-DEH design ferries consists of PM motor driven SCHOTTEL EcoPellers type SRE 340 with 2.1 m diameter fixed pitch propellers.

GE Technology to Power Massive Crane Vessel

A recent partnership between Sembcorp Marine and GE aims realize one of the most challenging offshore projects in recent times for Heerema’s new Semi-Submersible Crane Vessel (SSCV) Sleipnir, which at 220 meters long and 102 meters wide, will be the world’s largest crane vessel. MAN Diesel and Turbo to Power Giant Crane Vessel

MAN Diesel & Turbo has signed a contract with Sembcorp Marine in Singapore to supply the dual-fuel propulsion system – including exhaust-gas after-treatment – for a New Semi-submersible Crane Vessel (NSCV) for Heerema Offshore Services. Singapore's Sembcorp Marine Becomes RCL Favoured Shipyard

Sembcorp's Sembawang Shipyard gets ship repair Favoured Customer Contract (FCC) from Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL). The contract, signed in Miami, Florida, USA, by Mr. Kevin Douglas, Vice President of Technical Projects and Newbuildings for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Mr. Svein Taklo, Vice President, Marine Operations for Royal Caribbean International, and Ms. Wong Lee- Lin, Executive Director, Sembawang Shipyard, commits the repairs, revitalisation and upgrading of its fleet of passenger ships cruising in the Singapore region to Sembawang Shipyard.

Singapore's PPL Shipyard Gets Jack-up Rig Orders

Sembcorp Marine's PPL Shipyard secures rig orders worth US$434-million to build two jack-up rigs for the Mexican market. PPL Shipyard has secured two turnkey contracts with a combined value of US$434 million for the construction of two units of jack-up rigs from Integradora de Servicios Petroleros Oro Negro, S.A.P.I. de C.V. ("Oro Negro"). Scheduled for delivery in end 4th quarter 2013 and end 1st quarter 2014, the pair of high specifications and high performance deep drilling offshore jack-up rigs will be built based on PPL Shipyard's proprietary design, the PPL Pacific Class 400.

Accommmodation Rig Contract for Sembcorp Marine

Sembcorp Marine’s Jurong Shipyard & Prosafe sign for a 2nd accommodation semi-submersible at US$ 295.2-million. Scheduled for delivery no later than end of December 2014, this accommodation semi-submersible (semi) will be built based on the GVA 3000E design, a similar design as the first unit, the Safe Boreas, presently under construction in Jurong Shipyard. This is Prosafe’s second accommodation semi with JSPL, following the first order contracted in December 2011. Along with the latest contract, JSPL has granted two additional options to Prosafe for further newbuilds.
