ZF to Boost R&D Following Record Sales
ZF Friedrichshafen AG will increase research and development spending again in 2018 following a year of record sales, announced CEO Wolf-Henning Scheider at the company’s annual press conference in Friedrichshafen Tuesaday. ZF ended the fiscal year 2017 with €36.4 billion in sales, which, when adjusted for exchange rate effects and M&A activities, elicited organic growth of 6 percent. ZF also further reduced the debt incurred from an acquisition in its automotive business and posted a higher adjusted EBIT of €2.3 billion, despite increased research and development costs.

Tradewinds Towing Returns to Laborde for Repowers
In September of 2006, Dominique Smith of the then one tug company Tradewinds Towing came to Laborde Products, to look at the S12R engine for the repower of the Miss Lis, an Alaskan built low profile tug he planned on repowering. Later that same month, the deal was made, and shortly thereafter, the Miss Lis set sail with new Mitsubishi engines and Reintjes transmissions supplied by Laborde Products. Since then, the engines have logged over 30,000 hours travelling throughout North, Central and South America.

Scottish Ferries Contract for Parker Bestobell Marine
Parker Bestobell Marine, part of Parker Hannifin, has won a contract to supply cryogenic globe and check valves for two Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries (Calmac) being built at Ferguson Marine Engineering in Glasgow. The valves will be installed in the liquid natural gas (LNG) fuel gas systems of these vessels, which are the first U.K. built ships that will run on this environmentally friendly fuel.
