Sanmar Delivers ASD Tug to Marintug

Sanmar Shipyards delivered a 24 meter ASD Tug with 60 tbp to Marintug of Turkey.This vessel is a RAmparts 2400SX-type with a 60 tonnes bollard pull, designed by Robert Allan Ltd.It is powered by a pair of Caterpillar 3512C main engines that each can produce 1765kW power with 1800 rpm’s which is combined with Rolls Royce US 205 FP ASD thrusters with built-in slip clutches. Sanmar, CAT Work on Innovative Hybrid Tug

Turkey’s leading tug builder Sanmar Shipyards was selected by Caterpillar Marine to build the first tug to incorporate its hydraulic hybrid propulsion system. Construction is currently under way with delivery scheduled for October 2019. SCHOTTEL Strengthens Presence in Turkey

As of January 2019, the SCHOTTEL targeted expansion of the international network of subsidiaries develops further with the foundation of SCHOTTEL Turkey. SCHOTTEL is active in Turkey and has a larger customer base there since the 1970s. With the large number of vessels build in Turkey, SCHOTTEL sees the need to establish this new subsidiary.Mustafa Muslum has been appointed Managing Director for SCHOTTEL Turkey and will head the new subsidiary. Muslum has a long experience in the marine industry and before joining SCHOTTEL he held several senior positions.

Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard Group Co,.Ltd has ordered 2 × MAN 9L 21/31 + 2 × MAN 6L16/24 GenSets in connection with the construction of an modern deck carrier. Med Marine's New Tug Fleet Completed

With the new tug MED XXIX recently put into service, Turkey-based Med Marine’s new fleet of six vessels is now complete. The ASD-type tugs are designed for harbor and terminal operations as well as for coastal towing.The main propulsion for the RAmparts 2300-MM consists of a pair of Caterpillar CAT 3512C engines, each rated with 1,380 bkW at 1,600 rpm, and each driving a SCHOTTEL SRP 340 azimuthing stern drive unit with fixed-pitch propellers of 2,100 mm diameter enabling a free sailing speed of 12 knots.

MAN Propulsion for 7 Russian Factory Trawlers

MAN Energy Solutions said it has won the contract to supply propulsion systems for seven new 109-meter factory trawlers for the Russian Fishery Company (RFC).The series’ lead vessel will be built by Tersan shipyard in Yalova, Turkey for scheduled delivery in July 2020. Rolls-Royce Equips Hybrid/LNG Live Fish Carrier

Nordlaks in Stokmarknes, Norway, is currently building a 385m long and 60m wide offshore salmon farm. The installation is being built at the CIMC Raffles yard in China. Nordlaks has also ordered a new hybrid/LNG live fish carrier (wellboat) to be built at the Tersan shipyard in Turkey. Rolls-Royce has been commissioned to provide equipment for both newbuilds, which have been designed by NSK Ship Design.Rolls-Royce will supply six TT1100 tunnel thrusters to the massive fish farm, which has been designed to produce salmon further offshore than has been possible so far.

Rolls-Royce to Design, Equip New Fishing Vessel

Rolls-Royce said it has signed a contract to deliver ship design and a range of equipment to a 70-meter long stern trawler to be built for Olympic Seafood based in Fosnavåg, Norway.The fishing vessel is to be built by Cemre shipyard in Turkey, who also holds a contracted option for a second vessel of the same type for Olympic Seafood.The vessel is designed for bottom trawling as well as pelagic trawling and will have a modern factory deck arrangement to handle and freeze both white fish and shrimp and ensure a high quality catch. The vessel is expected to be delivered in 2020.

Rolls-Royce's Autocrossing System for 13 New Ferries

Rolls-Royce Marine has signed a deal to supply its Autocrossing system to a total of 13 new environmentally friendly ferries for the Norwegian company Fjord1. The vessels are currently being built by three yards in Turkey and two yards in Norway. All contracts also include two azipull propellers for each vessel with accompanying propeller control system from Rolls-Royce. With this contract, Rolls-Royce has sold autocrossing to a  total of 18 new ferries to operate along the coast of Norway, of which 16 have been ordered by Fjord1 and two by another Norwegian ferry company, FosenNamsos Sjø.

Supporting Silent Ships

Have you ever had problems talking to someone in a noisy environment such as a busy restaurant? The same happens to marine animals, which use sound to sense and interact with their environment: for communication, navigation, finding prey and even for self-defence. High ambient noise levels, which include a contribution from shipping, have an adverse impact on marine life. The world’s oceans are becoming increasingly noisy. While the size of the global commercial fleet more than doubled since the 1960s, anthropogenic noise in the oceans has actually increased eightfold.

Yanmar Provides Green Power for New Trawler

Norway’s newest and largest factory stern trawler features an auxiliary engine package from Yanmar, based on two 6EY22ALW generating sets. The 81.2m long, 16.6m beam MV Granit was built at the Tersan shipyard in Turkey to the Skipsteknisk ST-117 design for Austevoll Island-based Halstensen Granit AS. The ship, yard number NB1067, was handed over to the owner at the end of August 2017. MV Granit is equipped for both white fish and shrimp, with all catches processed on board. She will be able to tow up to three trawls for shrimp, two for white fish.

ABB’s Onboard DC Grid on Hybrid Wind Farm Vessel

ABB will optimize the safety and environmental credentials of a new Louis Dreyfus Armateurs wind farm Service Operation Vessel (SOV) by installing Onboard DC Grid power distribution to enable the cost-efficient integration of batteries. As an integral part of the power system, the Power and Energy Management System (PEMS) will ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessel. The hybrid system enables lean operation with fewer running generators without compromising on safety, meaning less maintenance and better fuel consumption over the long-term.

MTU 4000 Engines to Power Harbor Tugs

Rolls-Royce and Sanmar Shipyards in Turkey have signed a contract for the delivery of eight MTU Series 4000 engines for four new terminal tugs, including an option for a further four engines. The tugs will each be fitted with two 16V 4000 M73L MTU engines, each delivering an output of 2,700 kW (at 1,850 rpm). The MTU brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.
