Fueltrax Announces Expansion in Asia

Maritime fuel management systems provider Fueltrax said it is expanding its representation in Asia in response to growing demand for its solutions in Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific regions. Joining the company is Faiz Azani, Director of Operations – Southeast Asia, and Chris Pemberton, Regional Representative – Asia PacificAzani joined the FUELTRAX team last month and brings 11 years of experience in the oil and gas, shipping, and marine industry, focusing on Southeast Asia, Europe, & the Middle East. He is a former marine expert to Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) of PETRONAS.

Eren Energy Buys Sanmar-built Tugboat

Sanmar Shipyards sold a Bogacay Class tugboat to Eren Energy. Built in 2018 at Sanmar’s Altinova Shipyard, Bogacay XXXlll is an example of the Sanmar RAmparts 2400SX design from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd. The twin Z-drive, diesel powered tug has been designed for maximum efficiency in the performance of ship-handling duties for sea going ships.Eren Energy is part of the Istanbul-headquartered conglomerate Eren Holding, which has business interests in paper, packaging, cement, energy, retail, textile, tourism and ports, including Eren Port on Turkey’s Black Sea coast.

Volvo Penta to Supply Gensets for Five New Electric Ferries

Turkish boat builder Sefine Shipyard has won a contract to supply Norwegian operator Boreal with five electric ferries – each supported by two Volvo Penta D13 MG IMO III generator sets (gensets). The ferries will operate to-and-from the islands in the inner Oslo fjord and run scheduled services throughout the day. The Multi Maritime-designed vessels will each have a length of 35 meters, a beam of eight meters, and two passenger decks capable of accommodating up to 350 people.The ferries will be built under DNV-GL classification regulations.

Rimfrost Taps Kongsberg for Krill Vessel Design and Equipment

RLS PhotoNorway-based krill extraction and processing company Rimfrost has awarded Kongsberg Maritime a contract to design and equip a new 120-meter krill harvesting vessel destined for operations in Antarctica.The vessel will be built by Westcon in Norway, and Tersan Shipyard in Turkey. Westcon will complete the vessel at its facility in Norway after initial construction at the Tersan Shipyard in Turkey. Turkish Coastguard Orders 122 Patrol Boats

ARES Shipyard in Antalya, Turkey has been awarded a contract to build 122 patrol boats for the Turkish Coastguard.“The project represents the largest volume serial production in Turkey’s shipbuilding history, and it will certainly put a significant record in the world’s shipbuilding archives as well,” said Utku Alanc, CEO of ARES Shipyard.“The project is planned to last five years and will involve construction and delivery of 122-ARES 35 FPB boats to meet the needs of the Turkish Coastguard.

CMS Completes First Major WinGD X-DF Engine Overhaul

China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC) equipment service subsidiary CSSC Marine Service Co (CMS) said it has completed the first ever major overhaul on two WinGD X-DF engines—in only nine days.The twin 6X62DF engines overhauled belong to the first ever X-DF powered vessel in operation, 2017-built 180,000-cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier SK Audace, owned and operated by SK Shipping Co. Corvus Supplies ESS for Nordlaks Hybrid Live Fish Carrier

Corvus Energy announced it has been selected by BMA Technology in Turkey to supply the lithium-ion battery-based energy storage system (ESS) for a new Live Fish Carrier to be built at Tersan Shipyard in Turkey.This is the second vessel in a series of two for Norwegian salmon and trout producer, Nordlaks. Corvus Energy also delivered the ESS for Bjørg Pauline, which was recently launched from Tersan Shipyard.The NSK Design 4126 – Live Fish Carrier, LNG HYBRID is among the most efficient and most advanced of its type.

Schottel to Power 'Wind of Hope'

Schottel will provide a range of propulsion systems for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs's second wind farm service operation vessel (SOV) the Wind of Hope.The new walk-to-work vessel, a sister vessel to the Wind of Change SOV, is currently under construction at Cemre shipyard in Turkey and will enter service operating under a long-term contract with Ørsted.The propulsion system of the vessel designed by Salt Ship Design vessel is powered by four diesel generators, which drive the electric motors of the Schottel propulsion package.

SCHOTTEL to Supply EcoPellers to Norled

SCHOTTEL has won a contract from Ada Shipyard in Turkey to supply propulsion units for two double-ended Ro-Pax ferries. As part of the deal, the German propulsion manufacturer will provide a total of four SCHOTTEL Rudder EcoPellers (SRE) for the LMG 60 DE design vessels ordered recently by Norwegian ferry operator Norled.The ferries’ main propulsion consists of two SCHOTTEL EcoPellers type SRE 270 (810 kW each) with 1.85 m diameter fixed pitch propellers (one at each end of the ferry). Each of the azimuth thrusters is driven by two bio-diesel engines through a twin-in-single-out gearbox.

Sanmar Launches First Tug with Cat AVD

Caterpillar Marine has announced the ceremonial launch of Sanmar’s new hydraulic hybrid tug,  BOĞAÇAY XXXVIII (38), completely equipped with a Cat Marine Advanced Variable Drive (AVD). The BOĞAÇAY 38 enters the industry as the world’s first AVD vessel. SCHOTTEL Propulsion for Turkish-built Tug

SCHOTTEL said it has secured a contract with Turkish shipbuilder Med Marine to provide propulsion units for a newly built escort and harbor tug. The Robert-Allan-designed tugboat is under construction at the Ereğli Shipyard in Northern Turkey. It will be used for harbor and terminal operations as well as for coastal towing.The main propulsion for the RAmparts 3200 tug consists of a pair of SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers type SRP 460 CP – each driven by a diesel engine with 2,350 kW.
