Incat Tasmania launched a 111-meter ferry -- Volcan de Tagoro (Incat Hull 091) -- from the shipyard at Hobart’s Prince of Wales Bay on June 15.Naviera Armas SA will operate the vessel on Spanish routes, including the Canary Islands. ExxonMobil has announced it has added Mobilgard M420 to its range of advanced marine lubricants.Mobilgard M420 is a 20 BN oil that has been rigorously tested specifically for use in medium speed engines using fuels that comply with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) global 0.50 percent sulphur cap. The lubricant has received No Objection Letters from leading engine builders, including MAN ES and Wartsila.With the marine fuel landscape changing in the lead up to 2020, Mobilgard M420 has been formulated for use on vessels running on 0.50 percent or 0.10 percent sulphur fuels.

One of the world's most advanced diving support vessels has undergone a comprehensive power plant refurbishment and maintenance program.Engineers undertook the 30,000 running hour major service on the generator engines on board the 140-meter-long Subsea 7 Seven Atlantic, said power specialist Royston who completed the diesel engines overhaul.The work by Royston saw the Wartsila W7L32 diesel generator No.5 disassembled to install new cylinder heads, air start valves, indicator cocks, injectors and cylinder seals.

World's First: Wartsila Intros Hybrid Retrofit
The Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has signed an agreement with the international shipping company Hagland Shipping AS for a hybrid retrofit installation.The project will take place onboard the ‘Hagland Captain’, a general cargo vessel owned by Hagland Shipping. It will be the first project of its kind ever in short-sea shipping applications. The agreement was signed in December 2018.The installation of a Wärtsilä battery hybrid propulsion solution will significantly enhance the ship’s environmental performance by reducing its emissions, fuel consumption, and noise.

Balearia announced construction of the world’s first fast ferry for passenger and cargo powered by dual-fuel LNG engines. During the overhaul, two auxiliary engines on the Dagestan were replaced with new Hyundai brand engines. The new 1,000 kW engines are more cost-effective and efficient than previous ones. Wartsila Propulsion System for New NMDC's Dredger
Wärtsilä supplied the full propulsion package for National Marine Dredging Company's (NMDC) new, state-of-the-art Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) launched in September. The 6,000 m3 capacity TSHD was designed by the IHC shipyard in the Netherlands in close cooperation with NMDC. The customized solution combines a shallow draft and a deep dredging depth with high manoeuvrability. The vessel has been specially designed to operate in high ambient temperatures, and the Wärtsilä machinery is capable of operating efficiently in such conditions.
