Ultra Deep Group (UDS) signed another contract with China Merchants Heavy Industry to build a Ultra Deep Installer – Multipurpose Diving Support Construction Vessel.

Even though the oil market remains in the doldrums, Singapore-based UDS is powering ahead with tis strategic plan to spearhead the development and operation of efficient, cost-effective diving and support vessels in the oil and gas industry, plancing an order for its proprietary design “Red Class 6027” MT design DSCV with a Chinese shipbuilder. The vessel -- the largest the company is building at the moment -- is a DP3, 142-m,  multipurpose subsea diving support construction vessel, and the planned delivery of the vessel is Q1 2018.

“We are thrilled with this contract and it affirms our company is heading in the right direction to build quality and size-appropriate vessels catered for the future market,” said Shel Hutton, CEO of UDS. “The current slowdown in the market allows us time to ensure our designs are optimized and customized for relevance in the oil and gas industry. I am thankful to our partners, and supporters, especially MT, DNV, FTE, ABB, Huisman, Rolls-Royce, Wartsila and CMHI, who have supported the company's vision, and realizing our plans to build these vessels. We are one step closer to towards our Vision.”

The new Ultra-Deep DSCV is equipped with Flash Tekk’s 24-man twin bell Saturation Dive System. Additional features include a 400 VLT in the reinforced moon pool area and equipped with twin-24 man SPHL. The vessel also has 2 x 250HP Work Class ROV’s 3000-m working depth installed in ROV hangers inside the vessel. In addition, it will have a 400 ton crane which has depth capability to 5200 m single fall and 3200m dual fall. The vessel’s 1,500 sq. m. open deck space and deck strength 10 ton sq. m. can facilitate a wide range of project required machinery and equipment.

UDS’ vessel is prepared for world‐wide operations in the deep and ultra-deep oil and gas sector projects. The contract, marks UDS’s strategy to provide vessels with high tech solutions to the offshore industry worldwide. Leveraging on its years of experience in the subsea industry, UDS has combined the high tech, practicality and high safety standards, to design and build this DP3 24-man twin bell diving support construction vessel.
