Rolls-Royce Delivers Ship Design, Equipment to New Fishing Vessel

Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine has signed a contract to deliver ship design and an extensive range of equipment to a 70-meter long stern trawler to be built for Engenes fiskeriselskap AS, based in Troms county, northern Norway.This highly advanced fishing vessel is to be built by Gondan shipyard in Spain.The vessel will be of type NVC 370 with a low resistant hull design, which meets increased demands for fuel efficiency combined with good sea keeping. Rolls-Royce to Design and Power Trawler for Prestfjord

Rolls-Royce has received a supply order from Spain’s Astilleros Gondan shipyard for the design, propulsion and auxiliary machinery systems for what has been dubbed one of world’s most advanced fishing vessels.Scheduled for delivery in 2020 to Prestfjord Seafood, a division of Norway’s Holmøy Maritime, the 77m trawler will be based on a Rolls-Royce NVC 732 WP design arranged with triple trawl and pelagic trawl for operation in Arctic waters catching white fish and shrimps. Eight Robert Allan Tugs for Persero

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) has taken delivery of the first eight, of a total 15, RAzer ASD tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd. The two RAzer 2960, two RAzer 2935 and four RAzer 2940 tugs are part of a major terminal expansion and fleet renewal program undertaken by Pelindo III in its operational territory. The RAzer 2960s and RAzer 2935s were built by PT Daya Radar Utama Shipyards in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the RAzer 2940s were built by PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyards in Surabaya, Indonesia. These will be the first Robert Allan Ltd.

A luffing and trolley travel hoist for bagged material used by two vessel loaders at Lake Charles, Louisiana. The hoists are fitted with Dellner SKP service brakes with mounting stands installed between the hoist motors and the reduction gears. The brakes were also manufactured with extra protection to prevent corrosion from sea water.

Dellner Brakes: Serving Inland and Coastal Waterways Markets

Dellner provides a range of clutch and braking products for the inland (brown water) and coastal workboat markets. Dellner products are used in a wide range of workboats including tugs, fishing boats and coast guard vessels. Tier IV Tug Delivered to McAllister Towing

McAllister Towing announced the arrival in N.Y. of the tug Capt. Brian A. McAllister, the first EPA Tier IV tug on the U.S. East Coast according to the company. Capt. Brian A. McAllister is powered by 3516E Tier IV Caterpillar engines with twin Schottel SRP4000FP units. Packed into its 100 x 40 ft. hull is 6,770 hp and more than 80 metric tons of bollard pull. Combining that power with a Markey class III escort winch on the bow and a Markey 2.25-in. wire winch on the stern puts the the tug in a class of her own.

Rolls-Royce. The words have been used by many to signify excellence – though not with the company’s permission, of course. Robert Allan Designed RAmparts 3300 ASD Tug for China

The Cao Gang 26 is a new RAmparts 3300 ASD tug designed by Robert Allan Ltd., constructed at JiangSu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd. in China and delivered to the Owner, Cao Fei Dian Port in Northern China in November 2016. The vessel has been outfitted to the highest standards for a maximum crew complement of 14. The Master’s and Chief Engineer’s cabins are located on the main deck, and two six-person cabins are located on the lower accommodation deck. Also included are common W/C’s on the main and lower accommodation decks.

Polar Cruise Ships to Feature Rolls-Royce Green Tech

Norwegian explorer cruise line Hurtigruten is to build two new expedition ships using a new and environmentally sustainable hybrid technology from Rolls-Royce making fully electric propulsion on a passenger ship possible. The Rolls-Royce designed MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen, about to be constructed at Kleven Yard in Norway, will be packed with innovative Rolls-Royce technology. Rolls-Royce to Equip ECO’s New Tugs

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) worth more than $41 million to deliver propulsion and deck machinery for 13 new tugs, including five which will have a direct bollard pull of around 150 metric tons. The 13 tugs are being designed and built at Chouest-affiliated shipyards in the U.S. with support from Damen’s Technical Cooperation program. The five most powerful tugs will be 45 meters long and 17 meters wide, making them the world’s largest of their kind to date.

Rolls-Royce to Equip Five New Cruise Ships

Rolls-Royce has announced a new deal to provide propulsion and deck machinery to five cruise ships being built by Fincantieri at their Monfalcone and Ancona Shipyards in Italy. The firm orders are to supply a Promas system, deck machinery and steering gear to two vessels being built for Viking Ocean Cruises. The contract also covers steering gear and deck machinery for a further vessel under construction for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Steering gear is also being provided for two vessels being built for Princess.

Jensen Debuts New Tractor Tug Design

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s Seattle-based naval architecture and engineering firm, Jensen Maritime, reports it has designed a new tractor tug for Vessel Chartering LLC that features some of the first Tier IV engines meeting higher federal air emissions standards among U.S. tugboats. The multipurpose tractor tug, engineered to support ship escorts, assists and towing, was jointly developed by Vessel Chartering LLC and Jensen and is being built by JT Marine of Vancouver, Wash. The tug is planned for delivery in the second quarter of 2017 to Vessel Chartering LLC.…

Rolls-Royce Wins Sinopacific Contract

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group (Sinopacific) in Shanghai for a package of power and propulsion equipment and deck machinery. The contract is to equip nine SPA80A Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels to be designed and built by Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group and owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, ESNAAD. Each ship will have a bollard pull of 80 metric tons, and be equipped with Bergen diesel engines, main and tunnel thrusters, electrical power system and a deck machinery package from Rolls-Royce.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery & Engine Co., Ltd. (MHI-MME), a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. Towboat Delivered to Tidewater Transportation & Terminals

Tidewater Transportation and Terminals, headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, has taken delivery of Crown Point, a new custom-built towboat commissioned at Portland’s Vigor Industrial. Crown Point is the first of a series of three towboats being built at Vigor for Tidewater, and will join the company’s current fleet of 16 vessels and 160 barges. Marc Schwartz, Maintenance & Engineering Manager at Tidewater, expressed, “The launching of the Crown Point, and the forthcoming Granite Point and Ryan Point vessels, marks an important step for Tidewater.

New Pilot/Tugboat for Tianjin Port

Early in 2015, Tianjin Port in the north part of China took delivery of a new ASD 38/60 Class pilot/tugboat, Jin Gang Lun 35, from the builder Shanghai Harbor Fuxing Shipping Service Company, after the delivery of two ASD 35/80 class tugs from the same shipyard in 2013. All three vessels were designed specifically for the Tianjin Port Authority by Robert Allan Ltd., naval architects of Vancouver, Canada. First RAscal 1800 ASD Tug for Sanmar

The Yenicay 1 is the first of the new RAscal 1800 series of ASD tug designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and delivered by Sanmar to its own fleet in Turkey in January, 2015. The RAscal 1800 is a big sister to the RAscal 1500 delivered by Sanmar in 2014 to Norwegian clients and shares a common hull form style, wheelhouse and general layout. According to the designer, both are built to high standards, almost yacht finish, and are fitted with Caterpillar engines and Veth Z-drives. However, the RAscal 1800 has considerably more power, speed and bollard pull.

ECO Orders Rolls-Royce Equipment for New AHTS

Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract worth $30.6m with the American owner Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO). The contract for ship equipment comprises Azimuth main propulsion, propulsion control systems, anchor winches and an anchor handling crane for an Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel (AHTS). The contract also includes an option for equipment for a second vessel of similar type. The vessel is designed by ECO’s North American Shipbuilding and will be built to Polar Class 3, equipped to operate in arctic waters with air temperature down to minus 40 degrees Celsius.
